about

Evie Waddell’s debut EP, features traditional songs in Gaidhlig and English, linked by the concept of ‘LEVIATHAN’. Leviathan refers to a huge ancient sea serpent and is also the title of Thomas Hobbes’ political treatise.

Proposing that strong government (rather than God and the monarch) was needed to uphold and frame morality, philosophy and politics, and keep society on the right track, organised for a common good. This more secular view seems normal to us now.

The first 2 tracks on the EP are from live performances at Soundhouse by Barry Reid in 2021. The other 3 were recorded by Keir Long at Gloworms Studio. The songs on this EP have been strong favourites over the isolating pandemic years, but in this mainly unaccompanied EP, Evie is discovering isolation is not necessarily always a negative thing.
